If you’re looking for a simple and delicious way to cook drumsticks, then this recipe for buttermilk roast chicken with garlic is a must-try. It’s a favorite of my daughter’s, and it’s incredibly easy to make using only a few ingredients. The chicken is marinated in a buttermilk mixture for 24 hours, ensuring that it’s tender and packed with flavor. Roasted in the oven until juicy and tender, the chicken is then broiled for a few minutes to add more color.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 6 chicken drumsticks
- 1 cup of buttermilk
- 5 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup of minced fresh parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, olive oil, minced garlic, minced fresh parsley, salt, and black pepper until well blended. Place the drumsticks in a gallon freezer bag and pour the buttermilk marinade over them. Distribute the marinade evenly over the drumsticks, then remove as much air as possible from the bag before sealing it. Marinate the chicken in the fridge for 24 hours.
- When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Remove the chicken from the fridge and place it in a medium-sized casserole dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken and roast the drumsticks in the preheated oven for 30-45 minutes, or until they’re browned, scorched in spots, and the juices run clear. For extra color, broil the chicken drumsticks for 5-10 minutes.
- Take the chicken out of the oven when it’s done, and serve it immediately with the sauce from the pan. Enjoy!
