Boil the potatoes until just cooked through, peel them and cut them into coarse pieces. Clean the green beans and cook until almost cooked in boiling salted water. Drain and collect the water. Cut the smoked pork into coarse cubes.
Fry the meat on all sides in a pan over medium heat with a little fat. Sprinkle the flour over it and fry it. Deglaze with the milk. Stir well and bring to the boil. Add the cream and mix well. Add enough bean water to create a nice, creamy sauce. Season generously with salt, pepper and savory.
Fill an open casserole dish with potatoes and beans and pour the smoked pork sauce over it. Sprinkle with the cheese and put in the oven. Bake at 175 degrees for 15 minutes.
Tip: Of course, you can also add any other seasonal vegetables: broccoli, Brussels sprouts, leeks or mushrooms. You can also add a very small dash of bitter white wine to the sauce.
The dish is ideal as a guest meal. They prepare everything and just put it in the oven when the guests come.
