Ingredients for the Dough:
- 150 g flour
- 100 ml water
- 100 ml milk
- 80 g butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
Ingredients for the Cream:
- 500 ml milk
- 150 g sugar
- 100 g flour
- 2 eggs
- 180 g butter
Step-by-Step Preparation:
- Prepare the choux pastry: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 80 g of butter. Add milk and water, stir. Add ½ tsp salt. In a separate bowl, mix flour with baking powder. When the liquid mixture boils, add the flour mixture.
- Knead a thick choux dough right in the saucepan. Mix thoroughly with a spatula, then remove from heat and let it cool.
- Add 4 eggs to the cooled mixture. You will get a thick, sticky batter.
- Visually divide the batter into two parts. Spread each part in a baking pan lined with parchment paper and bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (392°F) for 20 minutes.
- Let both cake layers cool completely.
- Prepare the custard cream: In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, eggs, and flour. Whisking constantly, cook over low heat until it boils. After boiling (when bubbles appear on the surface), cook for another 3 minutes and turn off the heat. Let it cool completely.
- Beat the softened butter with a mixer until fluffy. Gradually add the cold custard to the butter, one spoonful at a time.
- Spread all the cream on one cake layer.
- Cover with the second layer. If desired, dust with powdered sugar. You can refrigerate it for a couple of hours or serve immediately.
A very tasty and tender cake that melts in your mouth!
