With This Method, Watering Plants During Your Vacation Will No Longer Be a Problem petro, July 5, 2026July 5, 2026 Facebook Pinterest Shares A simple and quick method allows you to water your plants even when you have to be away from home for a while. Anyone who has one or more plants at home or in the garden knows how important it is to pay special attention to watering to keep plants strong and lush and to ensure they live long. Care and dedication are necessary to fully enjoy the beauty of your plants. But what do you do when you have to be away from home for some time? The first thing that comes to mind is to ask a trusted person (friends, family, partner, or colleagues) to water the plants. However, there is also a method that allows plants to continue receiving the necessary water without relying on others. Watering Plants Even When You’re Not Home: The Foolproof Method You will need two plastic bottles — one larger and one smaller. Cut the bottom part of the larger bottle (measure about 6 cm from the bottom and cut). Place the smaller bottle vertically inside the bottom part of the larger bottle. Mark the maximum water level on the smaller bottle (at the height of the bottom part of the larger bottle). About half a centimeter below this mark, cut out a small square window (using a cutter). This is where the water will come out. Take a strip of fabric about 35 cm long and wrap it in aluminum foil, leaving about 4 cm of fabric sticking out at the end. Fold the wrapped aluminum and place it inside the bottom part of the larger bottle (where the smaller bottle is already sitting). How the System Works This is essentially a drip irrigation system. Place the base in the soil (about 0.5 cm deep). Fill the smaller plastic bottle with water. The water will come out through the small window and fill the bottom part (which acts as a reservoir). The aluminum-wrapped fabric acts as a wick/sprinkler. In a short time, drops of water will start coming out slowly and water the soil around the plants. Tip: If the water flows too quickly, simply tighten the aluminum foil more to slow down the flow and ensure proper watering. This method also works great for houseplants — just use a small container to support the irrigation system. The idea is brilliant and allows you to go on vacation for even a few weeks without worrying about your plants! Post Views: 40 Uncategorized
