Baking soda saves roses and other plants from pests! 🌱
Baking soda is a natural, inexpensive compound that is safe for humans, animals, and plants. It is very useful in gardening and serves as an excellent alternative to harmful insecticides and fungicides. It can help save your plants from harmful insects, with aphids being the most common. 🪲
Aphids usually attack young plants or the new shoots of adult plants. Look at this rose: it has not yet flowered, but it is already invaded by aphids. These insects destroy buds and young leaves. They can also transmit various viral and fungal diseases.
You will need:
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 liter of water
Procedure:
- Dissolve the baking soda in room-temperature water.
- Pour the solution into a container with a spray nozzle.
- Spray the plants in the evening, covering both sides of all leaves, all buds, and the stems. 💧
- If you apply the solution carefully, the aphids will disappear the very next day. Make sure to cover all parts of the plants to eliminate any remaining insects that could continue to multiply.
- Baking soda also protects plants against fungal pathogens. Therefore, treat the plants with this solution once every 7 days.
Happy gardening! 🌹
