How to make ham fritters
First prepare the potato. Grate the potato with the coarse side of a box grater. Transfer the grated potato to a large mixing bowl.

Add the rest of the ingredients and mix to combine. Pour the tablespoon of the fritter mixture into the hot oil and fry until cooked through.

Ham Fritter Variations
To make these fritters vegetarian, omit the ham and use vegetables instead. Corn (fresh or frozen) and grated or mashed root vegetables (such as carrots, parsnips, and sweet potatoes) will work in this recipe. Cauliflower and broccoli will also work well, but they need to be cooked first. Steam until tender and shred before adding to the rest of your ingredients. When using leafy greens (such as spinach or Swiss chard), you can blanch them and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.

Tips
If the ham fritters fall apart or become too soft, add a little flour to thicken the mixture.

To make perfect balls of the same size, you can use a large ice cream scoop.

You can use any other cheese like Swiss, Gruyere, or Mozzarella.

To make these gluten-free ham fritters, you can use almond flour or any gluten-free flour blend.

To avoid grease, drain the potato and zucchini fritters on a plate lined with a paper towel.

How to Store Ham Fritters
Store ham fritters in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Store in an airtight container and cover with paper towels to absorb excess moisture.

Can I do it ahead of time?
Ham fritters taste best right after frying, but you can make the batter ahead of time. Simply mix the batter ingredients, cover with plastic wrap, and chill before serving. Take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before frying, this will prevent the oil from cooling too quickly.

Can I make ham fritters in the Airfryer?
To make the fritters in the Airfryer, scoop out a tablespoon of the fritter batter onto a baking sheet and freeze for 10 minutes. Then place the dough pieces in the Airfryer basket and air fry at 400°F for 15 minutes, flipping halfway.

To make the fritters in the oven, place a tablespoon of the fritter batter on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Flatten the mixture and drizzle with a little oil. Bake for 20 minutes at 180°C/350°F, until the fritters are golden brown.
