Summer is undoubtedly the ideal time to grow many beautiful plants in your garden, on the balcony, or on the windowsill. The warm summer sun only enhances even more the beauty of the many flowers we choose to decorate our homes, even indoors. Among the most appreciated flowers are undoubtedly orchids, often preferred by gardening enthusiasts for their beauty and elegance. Orchids come in different types, all very beautiful, colorful, and fragrant. Therefore, enriching your home with orchids is a great option, as these flowers also release a wonderful aroma.
Orchids will grow abundantly thanks to this natural solution
However, especially beginners don’t know all the techniques to make orchids always strong, exuberant, and especially very numerous. The secret is to choose a very effective organic fertilizer capable of providing the plant with adequate nutritional support.
Many people rely on the countless chemical products easily found in specialized stores, but the advice is to always set these solutions aside and focus on natural organic fertilizers.
The first thing to do so that your orchid produces countless buds is to water it once every two weeks, to maintain the appropriate humidity level. This way, the plant will absorb fertilizers much faster.
Later, you can count on brown rice, which is preferable to regular rice because it is richer in elements like potassium, phosphorus, and calcium. Put five tablespoons of brown rice in a plastic cup and add half a liter of water.
Once this step is complete, mix thoroughly and pour the mixture into another container through a sieve that will filter the liquid.
With the newly obtained rice water, we can clean the orchid leaves. Take some cotton, soak it in rice water, and apply the substance to the leaves.
This way, we will provide the plant with plenty of nutrients, starting with proteins and B vitamins. The cleaner the leaves, the better the chances the plant has to grow without problems.
By applying rice water to the leaves once a month, we will also ensure that the plant repels fungi and insects, allowing it to live long and grow healthily.
Rice water is the best medicine: try it to believe it
We can also water the orchid’s soil with rice water, letting it rest for about 30 minutes so that the roots can better absorb the nutrients.
Finally, an excellent method to help damaged orchids regain strength is repotting. Before replanting, always use rice water to thoroughly clean the leaves and ensure the plant receives the nutrition it needs.
Once this is done, we can place the orchid in a glass and fill it with rice water, letting everything rest for about 30 minutes.
When we proceed with repotting, thanks to this method, the plant’s roots will develop more quickly. During repotting, it is preferable to keep the plant in a cool place for about a week before moving it to a well-lit spot.
